Discussion Board Questions - Beginning Calendars and the Concept of Time:
Take a minute to reflect on why the specific types of calendars you have learned about so far are needed to help children who are deaf-blind grasp the concept of time. Share your thoughts on this discussion board.
Takeaway
Beginning calendars--a child's first "timepieces"--are very different from traditional calendars. They break time into "chunks" and each chunk represents an activity. Anticipation calendars represent the immediate past and immediate future. Daily calendars expand time to include a sequence of activities. It is very important to match the type of calendar to a child's current abilities.
